Everyone knows it: sitting around the campfire in the evening and baking bread on a stick with friends. It brings back childhood memories. Are you Team Sweet or Team Salty? Today we're going to show you a delicious version of savory stick bread to make yourself. Coated in garlic oil - something different for the next campfire. :)
Preparation time 90 minutes
Cooking time 15 minutes

Ingredients
Ingredients for 8 portions
Stick bread dough
- 400g wheat flour (type 550)
- 100g wholemeal rye flour
- 250ml lukewarm water
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 sachet of dry yeast
- 2 tsp salt
Garlic oil
- 2 tbsp rosemary needles
- 6 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp thyme leaves
- 1 tsp salt
- 50ml olive oil
Preparation
- To make the stick bread dough, put the flour, water, oil, yeast and salt in a bowl and knead everything well. Cover the dough, place in a warm place and leave to rise for about 90 minutes so that the dough has doubled in size.
- To make the garlic oil, finely chop the garlic and thyme and stir into the oil with the salt.
- The risen stick bread dough must now be pressed flat to incorporate the rosemary into the dough. This can now be divided into 8 portions and formed into strands.
- The strands can now be wound around oiled and debarked branch tips and then baked over the fire or embers until golden brown.
- Once the bread has been baked, it can be brushed with the oil that has already been prepared. The leftover oil can also be used for dipping to add even more flavor.
