SEVERIN visits the Impact Festival 2021 in Offenbach
SEVERIN has been taking part in the Zühlke "Sustainability Circle" with a small, changing group of colleagues since the beginning of the year. The predominantly well-known participating companies were introduced to exciting content through keynote speeches, best-case practices and smaller discussion rounds. This included topics such as sustainability innovation & roadmapping, the process of a life cycle assessment & the software solutions required for this, eco-design & sustainability design, eco materials and business models.

The highlight and conclusion of this participation was an invitation to the first Impact Festival, which has set itself the goal of connecting sustainable technologies, innovations and potential investors. The connection and cooperation of all stakeholders leads to the acceleration of a sustainable transformation.
Our product management duo Lara Kemper and Lara Deimann accepted this special invitation and made the trip to Offenbach to get to know the content, exhibitors and participants from Zühlke in person..
The event took place in an old industrial hall – shabby chic! There were two halls with 130 exhibitors in small, simple corners, a large main stage, a small innovation stage, small master class rooms, a “match” area with bar tables, several bars, an indoor and outdoor lounge and a separate exhibition in the outdoor area. The coffee was a highlight in itself, as it tasted great and was of course sustainable, topped off by the zero waste approach. All hot drinks were served in a cookie (with only 105kcal to get over). In the end, all that was left was the “instructions” for the coffee cup, which had to go in the bin after all. (Recommendation: drink the coffee within 30 minutes, otherwise the cookie will also dissolve)
The audience was very diverse and just as colorful as the stands and their offers, concepts and ideas. You could tell that #diversity is the program here.
At the beginning, we got a rough overview: who is there? who do you know? what are the exciting things to discover? In one hall, there were exciting food innovations, consumer goods and technologies to discover. In addition to a fascinating robot for agriculture and the right sustainable fertilizer material made from maggots and flies, we were able to dust off a beer made from leftover bread: it tasted somewhere between a pale ale and a pilsner – a definite recommendation! But it will be a while before it appears in the stores in our region.
Did you know that every 5th loaf of bread ends up in the bin? No? Neither did we – so cheers, all for nature! By the way, the food on offer was 100% veggie
The content that we were able to experience in the master classes will then be presented and discussed in detail at the upcoming meeting of the internal “SEVERIN Green Team”. Even SEVERIN was placed “sustainably” – which we are of course proud of!
