Bündner nut cake as cookies
Bündner Nusstorte is a round, flat cake made from shortcrust pastry and filled with caramelized walnuts. It is a Swiss classic and a must for all nut lovers! But sometimes a whole tart is a bit too much, as we're sure you know. That's why we have a recipe for you today that you can use to make a small version of your Bündner Nusstorte.

Ingredients
Ingredients for 50-60 pieces
Ingredients for the dough
- 300 g wheat flour
- 150 g soft butter
- 70 g sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 sachet orange zest
- 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
Ingredients for the topping
- 200 g chopped walnuts
- 150 g sugar
- 150 ml cream
- 70 g honey
Preparation
- Knead all the ingredients for the dough together in a short time.
- Leave the dough to rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough 4-5 mm thin.
- Cut the dough into rounds.
- Bake at 180°C for approx. 8 minutes until the edges are lightly browned.
- Leave the cookies to cool for approx. 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, place the sugar for the topping in a pan and slowly caramelize.
- When the caramel is light brown, add the cream and honey and simmer for approx. 5 minutes.
- Fold the walnuts into the hot caramel mixture.
- Spread evenly over the cookies using two teaspoons.
Now just leave the cookies to cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar if necessary and then the most important thing: enjoy!
