Tested by blogger “Ninastrada”: The SEVERIN inverter microwave MW 7755
I've been part of 'Team Microwave' since I was a child, because a microwave was always a permanent fixture in my parents' kitchen. Not only did we use the microwave to heat up food or defrost frozen food, but my mom also used it to conjure up some really unusual things. One of the highlights was always microwave popcorn. It's a bit more common now, but when I was a child it was still something very special. My friends were always totally impressed when we had fresh popcorn at movie night. In addition to popcorn, we also often had roasted almonds from the microwave. Unlike in a pan, the almonds don't burn so quickly and they are ready in no time at all.

Because of these fond memories from my childhood, I was particularly pleased to have the opportunity to test the Severin MW 7755 inverter microwave. The microwave has a grill and hot air function and is therefore also suitable for baking. As a food blogger with a focus on baking and sweets, I naturally have various recipes in mind that I will test with the inverter microwave.
Highlights of the MW 7755 inverter microwave
The inverter microwave is a 3-in-1 appliance. In addition to the usual microwave functions, it also has a grill and hot air function. I have summarized my personal highlights for you:
Hot air function with preheating function
The microwave has an extra hot air function that heats the microwave up to 200 °C. The great thing about this is that there is a preheating function and the microwave is preheated to the desired temperature in no time at all. I find this function particularly practical for baking bread rolls. Without having to wait long for the oven to preheat, I can quickly bake the rolls in the microwave and they become really crispy on the outside.
Of course, I also tested the hot air function for baking and I am absolutely delighted. I used the inverter microwave to bake caramel popcorn cupcakes. I filled the cupcakes in silicone molds and baked them with the hot air function. The performance of the hot air function can definitely compete with that of an oven. The cupcakes rose perfectly and had the same cooking time as in a normal oven. Compared to the oven, however, the microwave was preheated much faster. You can find the recipe for the caramel popcorn cupcakes further down in the article.
Save your favorite food
Using a special button on the LED touch display, I can call up the settings for my favorite food at the touch of a button. This means I don’t have to set the desired time and power for baking bread rolls every morning.
Combining functions
The various functions can be easily combined and programmed to run one after the other. For example, you can set the appliance to first cook the vegetables for a certain amount of time and then switch to the grill function in the last few minutes of preparation and bake the cheese on the vegetable casserole until golden brown.
Baking pizza with the crispy plate
The inverter microwave comes with a non-stick coated pizza plate. This is perfect for baking your pizza. Whether homemade or from the freezer, it doesn’t matter. The pizza plate stands on small feet so that the pizza is also baked perfectly crispy from below by the hot air.
Recipe for caramel popcorn cupcakes from the inverter microwave
Preparation: 4 mins Preparation: 2 mins
Ingredients for 6 caramel popcorn cupcakes
For the cupcakes:
- 50 ml sunflower oil
- 90 g sugar
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp amaretto
- 100 ml kefir (1.5% fat)
- 160 g wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp baking soda
- 1 pinch of salt
- 3 tsp baking cocoa
For the cream:
- 200 g cream
- 2 tsp San-apart
- 250 g cream cheese (heavy cream)
- 3 tsp caramel sauce
- 2 tsp San-apart
- 50 g powdered sugar
For the decoration:
- 1 packet of microwave popcorn
- 6 tsp caramel sauce
Preparation
- For the cupcakes, beat the oil, sugar, egg, amaretto and kefir until frothy. Then add the remaining ingredients and stir everything with a spoon until there are no more lumps.
- Now divide the cupcake batter into silicone cups or paper muffin cases using a spoon or ice cream scoop.
- Preheat the microwave to 200 °C using the hot air function. As soon as the signal sounds that the microwave has reached the desired temperature, place the muffins in the microwave and bake at 200 °C for 5 minutes. Then set the temperature to 180 °C and bake for a further 15 minutes. To make sure the cupcakes are cooked through, you can test them with a wooden stick.
- While the cupcakes are cooling, the next step is to prepare the cream. To do this, whip the cream with 2 teaspoons of San-apart in a tall container until stiff. In a separate bowl, mix the cream cheese with the caramel sauce, San-apart and powdered sugar until creamy. Now fold the cream into the cream cheese mixture. Use a piping nozzle to pipe the cream onto the cupcakes.
- You will need fresh popcorn for the decoration. You can get both sweet and savory popcorn in a well-stocked supermarket, which you then prepare in the inverter microwave according to the instructions on the packet. As soon as the popcorn has cooled, you can use it to decorate the cupcakes. Use a teaspoon to drizzle the caramel sauce over the cupcakes.
