Halloween American

Halloween - a custom that is now celebrated by many every year, and not just in the USA. On this day, it is becoming increasingly common to see little ghosts or other ghouls scurrying through the streets. To bring a small and delicious eye-catcher to your Halloween party, today we have Halloween Americans. They are easy to prepare and can be made in just a few steps! But be careful! Don't be frightened by the scary faces that might appear.

Ingredients
Ingredients for 6 portions
Halloween American
  • 120 g soft butter
  • 1 lemon
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 g flour
  • 50 g cornflour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 70 ml buttermilk
  • 250 g powdered sugar
  • 200 g black rolled fondant

Preparation

  1. Beat the butter for approx. 5 minutes until creamy.
  2. Wash the lemon with hot water and grate the zest.
  3. Then squeeze the lemon and set the juice aside.
  4. Mix together the lemon zest, sugar, salt and butter.
  5. Fold in the eggs and buttermilk alternately.
  6. Mix the flour, cornflour and baking powder in a small bowl and then mix with the rest to form a smooth batter.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  8. Pour the batter into a piping bag and spread in small heaps on baking trays lined with baking paper.
  9. Bake the Americans for approx. 15 minutes at a time until golden brown.
  10. Leave to cool on a rack.
  11. Mix the powdered sugar and approx. 4-5 tablespoons of lemon juice to make an icing.
  12. Cover the Americans with the icing and leave to set.
  13. Knead the fondant until soft, cut or cut out suitable shapes and use them to decorate the Americans.

As an alternative to the Jack the Skellington faces, you can of course also dip the Americans in chocolate, for example, and decorate them however you like.
