We are Top Innovator 2023 Awards, honors and more at SEVERIN / We shine with innovative strength We have once again been honored with the prestigious Top 100 Innovator Award. After 2014 and 2019, this is the third time we have received this award. We are proud and honored that our innovation efforts have been recognized by the renowned jury.
But what is this award all about?
The Top 100 Innovator Award has been presented for 30 years and is the only award for innovation management in Germany. Every year, more than 3000 companies take part in the competition. The 100 most innovative companies are honored in three categories, each of which gives high priority to the innovation goal in their strategy and actions.
Innovation researcher and scientific director of the competition Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke and his team from the Vienna University of Economics and Business evaluated the companies on the basis of more than 100 criteria from the following five categories:
- Innovation-promoting top management
- Climate of innovation
- Innovative processes and organization
- External orientation/open innovation
- Innovation success
And what does it mean to be a TOP innovator?
The companies honored as TOP Innovators focus on innovative strength and innovative success. The award certifies that we are able to question the status quo, think creatively and in new ways and successfully assert ourselves on the market. How do we do this?
We have set up a dedicated innovation team. Our colleagues analyze market and customer needs and develop new product concepts. In line with the open innovation principle, end customers and partners are involved in the innovation process from the very first step. This means that they are involved both as providers of ideas and as concept and prototype testers. Through critical questioning and practical application tests, e.g. in digital user testing, service center feedback and concept tests, they help to ensure that the product is designed in such a way at the end of the iterative development process that it meets the needs of the market and delivers the decisive added value for the end customer. [WL1] In short: that it solves a problem and delivers what it promises. Because only then can we ensure that you, our customers, are happy and satisfied with a new product.
Our latest innovation FILKA, a fully automatic machine for filter coffee, was also created in 2022 as part of such a process. With its unique concept of fully automated coffee production at the touch of a button, flexibility in portion sizes and premium filter coffee quality, the FILKA scored highly with you. We have the overwhelming approval of the concept and product in an independent market test to thank for the fact that it came onto the market in this form at all. And this approval is reflected in a successful market launch.
Agile and externally-oriented product development in this form naturally gives us as a company a certain degree of planning security – but also the opportunity to continue to inspire you with new and innovative products. As a medium-sized company, the necessary expertise cannot always be mapped in-house. That’s why we use the “external ecosystem” to our advantage in the process and always take a curious look at the status quo in collaborations with universities, for example. With external specialists, we take a disruptive look at topics and ask ourselves, for example, how the kitchen will function in ten years’ time. For us, this approach is a clear win-win situation and a criterion for success in the future.
