Chia rolls

Chia is very versatile and a real all-rounder. Chia buns are the perfect opportunity to make the most of the power seed and make it tasty! Prepare the dough the day before and then start the day with this low-calorie snack! Thanks to the chia seeds, the rolls are also high in protein and fiber.

For the dough

  • 400 g spelt flour type 630
  • 2 g yeast
  • 250 ml lukewarm water
  • 5 g sugar
  • 30 g chia seeds
  • 20 g crushed linseed
  • 15 g walnut oil
  • 10 g salt

For sprinkling

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Preparation

  1. Place all the ingredients in a bowl and knead for 3 minutes.
  2. Leave the dough to rest in an oiled bowl for 30 minutes.
  3. Stretch and fold the dough once.
  4. Leave to rest for a further 12 – 15 hours in a 10-15°C cool room.
  5. Preheat the oven to 230 °C top/bottom heat.
  6. Spray the dough pieces with a little water and sprinkle with chia seeds.
  7. A few sprays of water directly onto the stove wall.
  8. Bake the rolls for 10 minutes.
  9. Open the oven door briefly and allow steam to escape.
  10. Bake for a further 8 minutes at 200°C.
  11. Leave the rolls to cool on a wire rack.
